From the classroom to the Quarry, Seaside students visit Graniterock
Posted by Graniterock on May 27, 2026
When 25 students from Seaside High School's construction class visited Wilson Quarry recently, they didn't just observe. They climbed in, sat down and got a firsthand feel for what a career in construction materials looks like from the ground up.
Primary Plant Manager Devin Teixeira hosted the group, staging a 777 haul truck and 992 loader near the Krupp so students could get up close with the kind of heavy equipment that powers Graniterock's operations every day. The operators of both machines were on hand to share their own career journeys and answer questions about what it's like to work at the quarry.
The energy was contagious. Students climbed around the equipment, took photos from the cab and left with a clearer picture of the many construction career paths available to them.
A special thank you to Tracey Rego, Bobby Brewer, Josh Basanese, Abel Covarrubias and Daniel Acevedo, who each took time out of their day to speak with students about their roles at Graniterock and how they got their start in the industry. Their willingness to share their stories made this visit memorable.
"We had a great time, and the students had an even better time," Devin said.
It's the kind of community investment that reflects Graniterock's commitment to Building Great Lives for the next generation of builders in our region.
