Toni Carroll, Graniterock’s Director of Quality, is the first female in the 60-year history of California Asphalt Pavement Association to be selected for the group’s executive committee.

CalAPA’s board of directors voted unanimously for Toni to join the nine-member committee, which provides leadership, sets agendas for the board of directors and guides long-term strategic planning and association governance.

“In selecting Toni to the CalAPA Executive Committee, the Board of Directors recognized her leadership qualities, sterling reputation within the industry and her many years of outstanding service to the association,” said Russell Snyder, CalAPA’s executive director. “CalAPA is dedicated to elevating the industry, and she has contributed significantly toward helping the association achieve that goal. Her willingness to share her knowledge and expertise with others was also viewed favorably by the Board of Directors.”

In addition to the CalAPA executive committee, Toni is co-chair of the association’s technical advisory committee, which helps form policy and guide technical education for California’s asphalt industry.

Before Graniterock, Toni worked at Vulcan Materials and Syar Industries.

She gained attention as a construction materials expert with her blog “Quality in California” and taught a highly-rated class for CalAPA on the Hamburg Wheel Track test.

Toni will be featured in a special women leaders in the asphalt industry panel discussion at CalAPA’s fall conference, Oct. 24-25 in Sacramento.
