Graniterock Corporate Office Receives City Beautification Award
Recognition for Landscaping Improvements at New Corporate Office
The City of Watsonville’s Beautification Committee notified Graniterock that it will be recognized by the City for its landscaping beautification efforts during the month of March, 2002, starting with recognition from the City Council on April 9, 2002. The award recognizes organizations that bring about significant improvements through “extra efforts of the residents of the Pajaro Valley in design, landscaping, and beautification of their properties.” Janice Shaffer, who led the landscaping efforts, said, “We appreciate the City’s recognizing Graniterock’s efforts to make a positive contribution to the community.”
Bea Ratliff, Chair of the Beautification Committee said, “It is an honor to recognize Graniterock. They are a good company and have been a part of the community for a long time. We want to alert the city to people and companies that do nice things to their properties to improve our community.”
Graniterock recently celebrated its 102nd Anniversary by hosting an Open House at the new corporate office building. The building is located at 350 Technology Drive, in Watsonville, CA. This is only the third administrative office location for the company in its more than century-long history in Watsonville. The beautiful new location is 62,000 square feet.
Granite Rock Company was founded on Valentine’s Day, February 14, 1900. The company also opened a new office in Oakland this year. Graniterock has operations in Watsonville, Santa Cruz, Seaside, Salinas, Hollister, Aromas, Felton, Oakland, San Jose, Redwood City, and So. San Francisco. The Graniterock Pavex Construction Division is a significant regional heavy engineering contractor building roadways, airports and private commercial and residential projects. Graniterock has also been the recipient of the Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award and the Governor’s Golden State Quality Award.
