A Diamond Is Forever
Graniterock Wins Sixth Download Achievement Commendation
For the second year in a row and the sixth time in the Company’s history the National Asphalt Pavement Association’s (NAPA) has awarded the Diamond Achievement to Graniterock. Graniterock’s Northern Road Materials Facilities, Redwood City, San Jose and South San Francisco, were acknowledged for operating their Hot Mix Asphalt Plants in an exemplary manner for the year 2005. Although winning the award for a second year is very impressive Graniterock will continue to improve operations and raise industry standards in all fields.
The Diamond Achievement is a self-assessment process that addresses six aspects of each plant/site: appearance, operations, environmental practices, safety, permitting and compliance, and community relations. Graniterock feels that all of these are equally important in running a successful business with the exception of safety, which always comes before anything else. Graniterock demonstrates that respecting the community and environment is still possible while running successfully will hopefully encourage the positive attitude that Graniterock has achieved for the past two years.
The National Asphalt Pavement Association is the only association that exclusively represents the interests of the Hot Mix Asphalt producer/contractor on the national level with Congress, government agencies, and other national trade and business organizations. Sustaining such a high level of excellence in this field requires a strong leader. Division Manager Rich Sacher is responsible for the Northern Road Materials Division and is honored to achieve such a prestigious award. “I want to thank everyone for their consistent and sustained commitment to each area outlined above. Recognition of this type cannot be achieved without consistent focus on our operational goals and a unified team effort,” said Rich. With this kind of leadership Graniterock looks forward to more of these quality achievements in the future.
Graniterock was founded on Valentine’s Day, February 14, 1900. Graniterock has operations in Watsonville, Santa Cruz, Seaside, Salinas, Hollister, Aromas, Felton, San Jose, Redwood City, Oakland and South San Francisco. The Company’s Pavex Construction Division is a significant regional heavy engineering contractor building roadways, airports and private commercial and residential projects. The Company has opened its new Cupertino Design Center in October. Graniterock received the 1992 Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award and the 1994 Governor’s Golden State Quality Award.
