Job Duties
Providing environmental services, while working with others in the Sustainable Resource Development group, you will drive improvements consistent with the Company’s Community Contribution and Responsibility Objectives and Corporate Goals. Applying knowledge of environmental science, environmental characterization and regulation within the structure of an education-based environmental management program you will lead innovative improvements and cost effective solutions. Drawing from effective presentation and educational approaches you will provide environmental training for Graniterock People; you will ensure others are instilled with knowledge necessary to responsibly interact with the environment and are enabled to seek innovative solutions at their work place. Applying knowledge of the Clean Air Act, Clean Water Act, Endangered Species Act and related laws and regulations you will develop environmental plans which complement the Company's environmental management program and concurrently meet regulatory standards. Developing project management skills, you will acquire and maintain necessary air, water and other environmental permits and achieve related reporting. Through professional and effective interaction with regulators you will continue to earn Graniterock’s reputation as an Environmental Leader. You will conduct the annual environmental inspection, in support of operation’s achievement of above-baseline results. You will support and coordinate Company-wide continuous environmental improvement through the Annual Improvement Plan-Environmental program. You will function as an effective and contributing member of the Environmental Services Team. Growing and utilizing environmental characterization skill sets, you will prepare procedures and conduct sampling and monitoring of air, water (surface and groundwater), noise parameter data, and analyze and report the results. Perform work in a safe manner at all times.
Minimum Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science or related major, relevant work experience may be substituted.
- Skills: Ability to develop and present effective written and oral presentations that lead to desired environmental results. Commanding organizational skills and ability to plan multi-phased tasks and concurrently complete projects and programs. Must demonstrate determined and innovative approaches when addressing environmental issues and catalyze support for improvements by other people. Must work effectively, and cooperatively with regulators and Graniterock people alike.
- Experience: If Bachelor’s degree in science related major, no experience necessary. 5+ years directly-related work experience may substitute for the Bachelor’s degree.
Desired Qualifications
- Education: Master’s degree in Environmental Science from a college or university.
- Skills: Excellent multimedia environmental characterization, and site remediation skills. Good working knowledge of Clean Air Act and Clean Water Act, hazardous materials and waste regulations as adopted and implemented in California. GIS, and database management. Accomplished in obtaining environmental permits, specifically for construction, aggregate, and road materials industries.
- Experience: 3+ years experience in environmental field with development of NPDES (including) Storm Water Programs (industrial and construction sites), and air permitting, HMMPs, and USTs, SPCCs.
Other Comments
Must have valid CA Driver’s License and immaculate driving record.
