Alternative construction and energy exposition 2008

Marina, Calif., January 9, 2008—The Green is coming!  The Green is coming! . . . and it wants YOU!

California has a reputation for taking a lead role in dealing with environmental issues. Now, the Monterey Bay Tri-County area will become home to the largest green EXPO in Central Coastal California history. The Association of Monterey Bay Area Governments (AMBAG) and other area entities have begun planning for the Alternative Construction and Energy (A.C.E.) EXPO 2008, to be held October 24 through 26, 2008 at the Santa Cruz County Fairgrounds in Watsonville.

The goal of the event is to present information on sustainable alternative techniques and materials for affordable, environment-friendly construction, energy and landscaping systems through interactive demonstrations, discussion forums and product resource booths, and in the process build community and legislative support for such alternatives.

The event will include vendors, exhibitors, a junior science sustainability fair, workshops, hands-on demonstrations and continuing education seminars. There will be information and products of interest to builders, architects, engineers, landscape professionals, homeowners and families. Admission and parking will be free to the public.

Since so many people in the Central Coastal area are interested in green and sustainable living, the EXPO Steering Committee invites interested community members to get involved as volunteers. Anyone with a product or organization that promotes sustainability is invited to apply for exhibit space. For further information, please contact Rebecca Lorentz at 831.883.3750 or via e-mail at rlorentz@ambag.org.

The Association of Monterey Bay Area Governments is a voluntary organization of the counties of Monterey, San Benito, and Santa Cruz and the cities within those counties. AMBAG provides a forum for local elected officials to plan, discuss, and study issues of regional significance and mutual interest, and for the development of studies, plans, policy and action recommendations.
