Over One Million Safe Miles Driven

Graniterock Drivers Maintain Professionals Driving Record

San Benito County, California—Graniterock’s Transportation Division has just passed another one million-mile mark without a driving incident. Seventeen dedicated drivers of Graniterock’s highway aggregate and bulk construction material trucks participated in this important community safety achievement. This accomplishment was attained with trucks that travel daily throughout central and western San Benito County to as far away as southern California and the San Francisco Bay area.

“We are extremely proud of this tremendous achievement by our driving team and look forward to continuing this outstanding record of safety performance,” said Division Manager Carey Wong. “This is especially noteworthy with the crowded and challenging driving conditions that our professional drivers face on a daily basis.”

Graniterock holds safety as one of its nine corporate objectives and considers Safety—Before All Else as one of its core values. The company provides on-going regular safety meetings; continuing education and daily reminders that help keep safe operations paramount in the minds of this remarkable team of drivers.

The Graniterock was founded on Valentine’s Day, 1900. Its first business operation was held in western San Benito County at the still-producing Wilson Quarry. Due to the success of the company since 1900, Graniterock now has operations in Watsonville, Santa Cruz, Seaside, Salinas, Hollister, Aromas, Felton, San Jose, Redwood City and South San Francisco. The Company’s construction division is a significant regional heavy engineering contractor; building roadways, airports and private commercial/residential projects.

Graniterock received the 1992 Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award and the 1994 Governor’s Golden State Quality Award and was ranked as one of the 100 Best Places to Work in America by Fortune Magazine. This is among one of the several times that Graniterock have been so honored among what the magazine calls: “THE COUNTRY’S BEST EMPLOYERS”.
