Graniterock Earns Diamond Achievement Commendation

Lanham, MD—The National Asphalt Pavement Association announced that Peninsula Road Materials, Graniterock of Watsonville, California has earned NAPA’s Diamond Achievement Commendation for Excellence in Hot Mix Asphalt Plant/Site Operations. The Commendation is designed to recognize Hot Mix Asphalt (HMA) production facilities that operate in an exemplary manner.

“Earning the Diamond Achievement Commendation serves as a signal to neighbors that an HMA facility is a good neighbor,” commented NAPA Chairman Michael D. Mangum. “The self-assessment process addresses six aspects of the plant/site: appearance, operations, environmental practices, safety, permitting and compliance, and community relations. By earning the Diamond Achievement, Graniterock has shown the community that it will go the extra mile for excellence.”

The Diamond Achievement Commendation is earned through a self-assessment process which is open to all in the Industry regardless of whether they are NAPA Members. Participation is voluntary and is on a plant/site by plant/site basis. Nominations are verified by members of the local community and are evaluated by a nationally known independent assessment firm.

The National Asphalt Pavement Association is the only association that exclusively represents the interests of the Hot Mix Asphalt producer/contractor on the national level with Congress, government agencies, and other national trade and business organizations. NAPA supports an active research program designed to improve the quality of HMA pavements and paving techniques used in the construction of roads, streets, highways, parking lots, airports, and environmental and recreational facilities. The Association provides technical, educational, and marketing materials and information to its Members; supplies product information to users and specifiers of paving materials; and conducts training courses. The Association, whose members number more than 1000 companies, was founded in 1955.
