Decking

Graniterock is proud to offer the LifeTime Lumber line from Century Products for all your decking needs.

Lifetime Lumber We believe you will agree that LifeTime truly represents a new generation of lumber products. You will find it to look like wood and at the same time provide low maintenance and longevity. Because of its unique polyurethane formulation, LifeTime also possesses an array of superior product features, such as resistance to termites, rot, fire, water absorption and expansion and contraction that put it in a class by itself. Of course, LifeTime is also supported by one of the best warranties available anywhere.

Traditionally the Lumber Industry has been dominated by pressure-treated wood. While wood is inexpensive, easy to install and structurally sound, it requires considerable maintenance and is susceptible to rot, warping, splintering, and attacks by termites and other pests. Perhaps even more importantly, it has been determined that the chemical used to pressure-treat wood is potentially hazardous to the health of humans, animals and plants. The use of this chemical was terminated effective December 31, 2003. Other chemicals being used as replacements are likely to be less effective, more expensive and promote corrosion of the fasteners and hangers used in installation.

Over the last several years, many synthetic products have been introduced to the lumber market. Most of these synthetics are made from a combination of recycled plastics and wood flour or other cellulose based fillers. They claim to be near maintenance free and not susceptible to rot, warping, splintering and pest attacks. These traits appeal to the homeowner who wants more free time with his/her family. However, in actual use these products have been found to experience many of the same problems as pressure-treated lumber.

LifeTime Lumber Products have all the features you would want in a product being used around your home or business.

Manufacturing Process
LifeTime is the product of a patented process that uses polyurethane as its cornerstone. Polyurethane chemistry is used in a wide variety of industrial and consumer applications because it has the ability to provide a unique combination of weight, strength, hardness, flexibility and resistance to water absorption. The filler material used in the process is fly ash generated from the use of coal to produce electricity. The fly ash that Century Products uses is a non-hazardous mineral particle residual of the coal combustion process used as mineral filler in many other building materials such as concrete, cement blocks, bricks, tiles etc. Its unique physical and chemical properties lend it to many recycling applications.

The LifeTime process is energy-efficient and does not discharge any residue that would be hazardous to the environment. In fact, by combining the beneficial use of ash, an energy-efficient operation, the lack of any discharge that could be hazardous and the opportunity it provides to help preserve our forests by reducing the use of wood, Century Products achieves one of its primary goals by being environmentally friendly.

Warranty
Century Products believes that LifeTime lumber provides more value than any other decking product on the market. Therefore, they are proud to support it with a limited lifetime warranty that is unrivaled by any of its competitors. Please compare before you buy.

Century Products warrants, for the LifeTime of the original owner, that its LifeTime Lumber products:

  • Will be resistant to fire
  • Will not be damaged by termites, insects, sea worms or barnacles
  • Will not suffer damage from sagging or thermal expansion and contraction
