Algebra Academy
The Algebra Academy, now in its third year, brings eighth grade students from local middle schools, including Aromas School, together with math professors from Cal-State University Monterey Bay (CSUMB) for an intensive algebra immersion experience. Students devote six full days of their winter vacations to sharpening their algebra skills. Card tricks, games of logic and a curriculum specially designed by CSUMB professors culminate in a college campus visit and graduation ceremony. Graniterock makes classroom space available and helps with program funding, and Team Members volunteer their time to share with students how math knowledge can lead to future career success.
